Pilgrim - Testimonials

I just wanted to drop a quick email with some positive feedback regarding your skis.  After riding the Pilgrims at yesterdays demo day, I must say I was impressed.  With the ride quality and design of your boards, combined with the enthusiasm of Ben and the other guys promoting them, Icelantic was certainly the most fun and innovative product at Loveland.  Not only did the skis perform the way they should, but the unique style and graphics make anyone on them feel like a true badass.  Working for a shop for over 6 years, currently with REI in Boulder, this is the first time in a while I am willing to pay retail for a pair of skis.  Whatever you all are doing...keep doing it.  Your boards are stellar, and I can't wait to spread the good word on a pair of Shamans!

Just a quick note. After trying your skis @ Loveland this year I purchased a pair of Pilgrims from you. WOW. I love these skis. They have done everything I wanted them to. I get lots of comments from others on the graphics. But the kicker was yesterday when a lifty slowed the chair as I was loading to ask if those were the new Pilgrims and how did I like them? Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Hey Ben and gang...I gotta tell ya....I was blown away this past week after a test drive on your Icelantics.

I currently ski the Head Super Shape..my ski for up to about boot high. For bigger snow days, I had the Watea 84 which I sold for the Watea 94....although the 94 for good in bumps and powder, I couldn't manage high edge angles for carving the boards. SO...I put them up for sale. While at Steamboat this past week, we ran into a gentleman that had a pair of Nomads and Pilgrims. He offered to let us demo the skis. I took the Pilgrims as I am 156 lbs and my buddy Ron is taller and 170 lbs took the Nomads.

We were totally surprised and actually taken back by their performance. I was on the 169 length and I could 2 foot it in powder, make short turns almost as quick as I could turn on my SS, and it was rock solid and easy to hold on high edge angles in short and long turns.....this ski really does it all for me. To find a ski this versatile has been my search for the Skiers Holy Grail!

After my ride, I met up with the gentleman that let us demo the skis. He wanted to sell them but the topskins were pretty beat up and there was some p-tex in the base so I figured I'd buy a brand new pair. Went into Steamboat and checked around and even made some calls......no Pilgrims to be found.

So I purchased the used Pilgrims and my buddy bought the Nomads. He also owns a pair of Shamans. I had some Mojo 15 bindings installed (Ron had some
Jesters) and took them to Edge Works for a base grind, new edges and skied them the final 2 days of skiing Steamboat this past week. Got home on the weekend, went to my tuning shop in the basement, got out the rubbing compound and fiberglass boat wax and worked on the surface to try and sparkle them up a bit. Put a 2 degree side bevel and a 1 degree base and finished with a hot scrape and new wax on the bases.

Well they don't look new but they ski new. I can't wait to show them off to all my eastern ski buddies here in upstate NY. I've got 3 more trips planned out west including Whistler, Jackson and Steamboat and can't wait to get these in some deeper snow as well as piled up and broken snow....bumps....etc. As a matter of fact, we've got a 2 day bump clinic with John Clendenin (the Aspen Ski Doctor) at Jackson who I think will be pretty impressed with the versatility of this ski as well.

Anyways...I just wanted to express my appreciation for a ski that was made for me, please change the name to Gary's Ski....I can't tell you how long I've been looking for such a ski. You guys are great and your product is simply outstanding. My only regret is that I don't have the prettiest Pilgrim to show off...but I'll let my skiing do the talking!
Wishing you great success and Happy Holidays!

~Gary
