Nomad - Testimonials

I bought a pair of 181 Nomads from your UK dealer Junkigear and just wanted to let you know that I am a big fan. I bought them to partner my K2 PE's and now they are all I ride; the PE's are wall ornaments. I rode them in Chamonix and Verbier this season with some Marker Barons (the Frenchman who mounted them was like ' zees are very beautiful skees, what are dey') and they transformed my enjoyment of the big mountain, smashing through everything, singing in the deep and railing like downhillers. I can't wait to get the skins on them back in my native New Zealand backcountry later in the year.

Anyway, I know it's a shitty recession and small ski co's aren't making huge sales, but you have to stick in there because your skis are the real deal.

My name is Matt Branum and i am 15 years old and last year i was invited to the Skiing Magazine ski test in Keystone. I tried many different skis while i was there and then my friend and I saw the tent that you guys had set up. We had heard very few things about Icelantic but we were tired of the park and decided to ski some powder on the other side of the mountain. We both picked up a pair of your Nomad skis and before we left we both heard something that we weren't used to hearing at the other tents we had visited, "Hey you guys have fun hit whatever you want those skis are great". We were so used to hearing things like, "Don't do any cliffs or rails and please try to be carful" that we both looked at each other in shock, "Dude these guys are sick i said to my friend" . Once we got to the other side we found some great steep trees with knee deep powder and fresh tracks everywhere. The skis were amazing and really made me realize that this was the way that powder was supposed to be skied. The Nomads had more control than any Rossi or K2 ski that we had tried that day. After we were done shredding the powder we headed back over to the park but this time it was different. Instead of skiing with my 07/08 K2 Fugitives i skied your Da'Nollie ski and it didn't disappoint. Since it is the same dimensions tip and tail i could ski switch with ease while also carve into the jump like it was a race ski. I just wanted to say thanks for the great skis and the awesome skiing experience that Icelantic provided.

You probably have no recollection of this whatsoever, but I emailed you asking about where too mount 181 Nomads. I followed your advice, and also said that I would let you know what I thought once I had skied them. Well, I have had that opportunity, and I love them! They are very fun skis altogether. They felt very comfortable at speeds and dropping cliffs. At the same time though, they held a good edge on groomers and on icy parts.  I was fortunate too ski them in about a foot of fresh pow, and they performed flawlessly, with the stiffer flex cutting through the small amount of avalanche debris that was in between runs.  They are super fun too ski in wide open areas with medium sized drops, which is what i mainly skied.  I love the stiffer flex, it saved me numerous times where I would have gone over the bars on softer skis, but was able too maintain my composer and ski out victorious.  Too top it all off, they have the coolest graphic I've ever seen, and are very well made skis that hardly chipped at all.  In short, I love them, keep up the awesome work.

Thanks for supplying an awesome product

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I recently made it back from a two week trip to MT in search of some untracked mythical runs in the Rattlesnake Wilderness area.  I originally set out on to ski up there on my Black Diamonds, I loved the skis and they were only a couple years old. Of course I have always been loyal to BD as I learned to telemark on an old pair of BDs back in 99.  At any rate the airline jacked around and my skis were delayed to their destination by a couple days( Should I have expected anything less).  I only had two weeks and was not about to wait for my skis, so I went to a ski shop in Missoula MT called the “Trailhead” and they talked me into a pair of Nomads and I set them up with a pair of Black Diamond O1 tele bindings and off into the wilderness I went.  Let me just say this now, upon completion of my first run through the trees; I literally dropped to my knees like Jimmy Swaggart and rejoiced “I HAVE BEEN SAVED!!!” I may have even sheda tear or two who knows I was to emotional.  Seriously, these skis CHANGED MY LIFE and for that matter my skiing as a whole. I live in Colorado and have lead two mountain rescue teams here as well as having skied all over the world and I have NEVER experienced a ski that has performed both in the backcountry and inbounds like the Icelantic Nomad. Hell, I feel forever indebted to you all. Thank you so much for creating a product that annihilates all other skis. As for my Black Diamond skis, well I felt that their true calling was in the fencing business, so I donated them to a friend of mine in MT for his fence, what a lovely addition they were. I do believe I shall pick up a pair of Shamans and put some alpine bindings on them just for good measure. I will continue to spread the good news of Icelantic skis on all of my travels.

My name is Jerome Smart . I meet you in Jackson three winters ago through Niel . I ended up buying a pair of Nomads that year, so sick. I wrote you a review if you want it, and I try to sell everyone on the lift on them. I love your Boards. I need to buy another pair of the Nomads this year, but here is what I think.
So I got the Nomads three winters ago, pretty much the best thing that happened to me in my ski life (except moving to Jackson). They are amazing all around ski. From bottomless powder days, to mandatory straight line couloirs , from stomping sevens at Mount Hood to Skiing the Grand Teton. I wouldn't buy another ski! The only flaw is that they are so burly , that you guys won't sell enough skis because they last too long ,I have skied three, hundred day gnarly seasons on my one pair of Nomads. I love my Nomads!
